Daniel Dias Callahan is a writer from Sacramento, California who still loves to read picture books. He received his Master of Fine Arts from the University of San Francisco and his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of San Diego. He currently resides in the United Kingdom.
His work has appeared in the California Quarterly, Sonora Review, and Thin Air Magazine among others. His fiction was nominated for the Best of the Net in 2025. Currently, he is working on a second poetry manuscript while trying to publish his first collection dedicated to his grandparents and inspired by the fertile soil of California’s San Joaquin Valley. His fiction plans include completing his short story collection shaped by the isolation that is result of the American Dream.
He is a former teaching fellow at the University of San Francisco where he taught Introduction to Creative Writing for non-English majors. He also served as poetry editor for Invisible City. In his free time, he enjoys surfing, taking photographs, and adding books to his to-get-to pile. Some of his favorite writers include W.G. Sebald, Samantha Schweblin, and Jamel Brinkley.
